Baltimore State Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby announced in a press conference this morning that her office will be charging the arresting officers in the Freddie Gray case with multiple charges ranging from assault to second-degree murder. The swiftness and severity of the charges have surprised many as questions about Mosby’s ability to remain impartial given her familial ties to law enforcement simmered. During the press conference Mosby confirmed that Freddie Gray died as a result of injuries sustained while being transported by BPD officers without safety harnesses and laid head first on his stomach with leg and hand restraints. She also clarified that Gray was arrested illegally. Mosby stated that the police officers charged are innocent until proven guilty and that the evidence that has been collected can not be ethically released to the public because they don’t want to tamper to potential jury pool. A complete list of the charges are available below. (photos via DailyKOS) This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
