Late last month, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes held a press conference in which he described intelligence that he said showed routine, legal surveillance of foreign individuals. Several watchdog and activist organizations filed complaints against Nunes, asking for an investigation into whether he had mishandled classified information. NPR reports:
“The Office of Congressional Ethics, or OCE, would not comment on whether it was pursing an investigation. But the House Ethics Committee — a more powerful ethics group — said in a statement it was opening a review of Nunes’ actions. The committee only considers complaints filed or endorsed by House members and can recommend punishments.”
A White House spokesman has told reporters that it’s an internal matter for the House. We will see if another one of Trump’s guys will bite the dust, as he seems to have washed his hands of Nunes.
